Disney Cruise Memories
Memories of Disney Cruise Lines

I had a potential new client tell me this week that she had looked at the Disney Cruise line ships and wasn’t all that impressed. I was a bit surprised by that and asked why, but she didn’t answer me. I decided that I needed to address that and this page seemed the best way to do that.
The Disney ships aren’t like any other ship sailing today. They are more on the lines of the early ships bringing passengers from Europe to America. The lines of the ship are clean and pure. Sure, they could have the climbing walls and ice skating rinks but why? A cruise is your time to spend with the family or just getting some down time. The Disney ships don’t have casinos on board. I thought at first I’d miss that, but then I realized if I truly had wanted a casino, I had picked the wrong vacation—Las Vegas is still in Nevada and they still have casinos!
Getting back to my love of the Disney Cruise line—every day is an adventure. You get to dine in a different restaurant every day, but the waiter you had last night is the one who is waiting on you tonight. To show you how good those people are, I’ve been on over a dozen cruise ships in the last 10 years, but I can still remember the names of our wait staff (and room steward) from our first cruise which was on the Disney Wonder. Witt, Sarah and Odell were the best—they treated us like royalty and that made the whole thing worthwhile and memorable!
For those who might say they want to go on a cruise to get away from the kids, well, have I got news for you! The Disney ships are set up so you can spend as much or as little time around the smaller versions of us. Separate areas on the ship are set up for kids, families and for adults only. These were strictly enforced when we sailed on both the Wonder and the Magic. Our favorite place was the coffee shop situated in the adults’ area. Good coffee, snacks and peace and quiet!
The think I liked most about the Disney ships was the bathroom in the cabins. Most of the cabins have split baths, which means that while the hubby is in getting his shower, I can be adding the finishing touches to my hair so we can get that great picture of the two of us at sea! While I showered, in one part of the bath, the mirror in the other part was used for shaving and there was never any doubt that you could use the facilities while the other person took a shower. The cabins in the Disney ships are just a bit larger and seem roomier as well! The floorplan below is of the deluxe inside cabin.

In any event, I’ve always loved the Disney Cruise and can’t wait till I get to go on the new ships and ride the water coaster…
